Currie, Philip J., and Colleayn O. Mastin. 1998. THE NEWEST AND COOLEST DINOSAURS. Kamloops, B.C. : Grasshopper Books. ISBN: 1-895910-41-2.

THE NEWEST AND COOLEST DINOSAURS is a book written by well-known paleontologist Philip J. Currie and children's authour Colleayn O. Mastin.  Each dinosaur is given a two-page spread with one page devoted to a color rendition of the animal by artist Jan Sovak.  The dinosaur name is bolded and most have a line following to help the reader remember which is which.  An example would be, "Einiosaurus: The Dinosaur with a Bottle Opener Nose!"

The dinosaur is described in three to six paragraphs and a separate box called "Dino Data" appears on each animal's page.  In the box is information about each dino's name, what it means, the year it was discovered, the food it ate, its family, in which period it lived, where the fossils were found, and its length and weight.  This book is written in a very reader-friendly way with interesting facts such as the fact that computer modeling now shows that the Seismosaurus may have been able to move its tail faster than the speed of sound to create a loud boom to frighten off predators.  Comparisons such as, "Achelousaurus weighed as much as a medium sized delivery truck and was a little shorter than a Hummer," make visualization easier.  Even dinosaur fanatics will learn something new from this book filled with up-to-date theories about dinosaurs.
